BioExcept for stints in Florida, California and Spain while in the Navy, I'm a lifelong midwesterner, having lived in Illinois, Wisconsin, Missouri, Kansas and now Iowa, with about half of my life spent living next to the Mississippi River.
I work the graveyard shift at the DesMoines Post Office where I'm a MailHandler; I've discovered that working at a job where you don't have to use your brain frees it up for more important things like reading and writing.
I spent several years as a high school foreign language teacher but have also worked at just about every job you can imagine.
Although I am in general a total klutz with mechanical things, I have managed to build three computers myself, and prefer that to buying them.
I'm pretty involved in BookCrossing (see link); I plan to use this site to do lots of leisure writing, when I feel like just plain slapping some stuff down and putting it "on the air". I also want to put things out that may be published somewhere later...
